This weekend at Stake Conference, Brother Sagan Patel, from the Griffin Ward, shared his testimony and the story of how he joined the church.

He said, "If I had to share one thought from my testimony, it would be to allow the Spirit to guide us more. We should put our trust in Him, come to Him with our questions, and not be afraid to ask questions or be curious about the gospel.

My whole journey actually started by clicking on a video that talked about the beginning and early days of the Church. That sparked a strong interest in the topic, which eventually led me to start learning about the doctrine and praying about whether the Church was true and whether the Book of Mormon was the word of God alongside the Bible.

During my study of the Church, there were initially some things that I struggled with pretty deeply. But I was able to work through them by remembering that Christ was the only perfect person, and that He leads His Church by calling imperfect people to guide it. Coming to terms with that allowed me to finally do what, looking back, the Spirit had been prompting me to do for quite some time: meet with the missionaries. I ended up getting baptized a week later, just over a year ago.

And since then I’ve grown a stronger testimony of Christ as the savior of the world than I’d ever thought I’d have, I testify strongly In my belief that this is his church restored by Joseph Smith so that we may have the fullness of the gospel."

Today, the Lake Jodeco Branch officially became the Lake Jodeco Ward.

The transition from a branch to a ward is a result of the love, sacrifice, service, effort, and faith of each of the congregation members.

Doctrine and Covenants 90:11 states: “For it shall come to pass in that day that every man shall hear the fulness of the gospel in his own tongue, and in his own language, through those that are ordained…”

We are so excited for all of our brothers and sisters in the Lake Jodeco Ward!

David Alquicira, First Counselor in the Bishopric; and Jesus Garcia, Ward Executive Secretary.

Take a moment to read this message from the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ, as you begin to prepare for the upcoming Easter season!

As Mary Magdalene and her companions mournfully approached the Garden Tomb, two angels appeared to them and shared the clarion call of all Christianity:

"Why seek ye the living among the dead?"

"He is not here, but is risen" (Luke 24:5-6).

This Easter season we also joyfully testify of this same eternal truth—Jesus Christ is risen. He lives!

The Savior of the world was crucified and, on the third day, rose from the dead, "the firstfruits of them that slept" (1 Corinthians 15:20). His Resurrection allows all to be resurrected, and through His grace, we can find peace "which passeth all understanding" (Philippians 4:7) and "be perfected in him" (Moroni 10:32).

We invite each of you during this Easter season to "seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written" (Ether 12:41). As you do so, we testify that your Easter celebrations can strengthen your own faith and testimony that "death is conquered; man is free. Christ has won the victory" ("He Is Risen!" Hymns, no. 199).
