We look for the resurrection of the body and the life of the world to come.

Thanks be to God for uniting Julia to the death and resurrection of Christ in the waters of Holy Baptism and for continuing to feed and nourish her with His Word and Sacrament throughout her life. We entrust her to the mercy of God and look forward to seeing her again at resurrection of all flesh when Christ appears.

Funeral service is tomorrow (Thursday) at 2pm, with visitation the hour preceding.

After mercy is asked and mercy is given, the only fitting response is praise.

In the Common Service used at All Saints, the congregation sings: "Glory be to God on high, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men" — the very words the angels sang over the fields of Bethlehem (Luke 2:14). The early Church took up the angels' song and enlarged it into a hymn to the whole Holy Trinity, and the Church has never stopped singing it since.

Notice what this teaches us: praise follows forgiveness. We are not congratulating ourselves. We are joining a chorus that began over a manger and has never ended.

Tradition also associates him with miraculous aid for the needy, a reminder that God's providence often works through faithful, ordinary lives....
