We look forward to seeing everyone Sunday!

09/11/2026

Twenty-five years, and we still remember.

We remember the smoke rising over lower Manhattan, over northern Virginia, over a quiet field in rural Pennsylvania. We remember the phones that rang and rang unanswered; the firefighters who walked up when everyone else ran down. We remember the mothers who waited by their phones for calls from sons and daughters already gone; the strangers who held one another as the towers fell.

Each year we read their names aloud — so many names — and we grieve as if we had known them ourselves.

As we recall our memories and see those still burdened by that day, we weep, as Jesus wept when He came to Martha and Mary at the tomb of Lazarus. But the same Christ who wept there also raised Lazarus, and later trampled down death by death. In that victory, our grief finds hope. We keep memory eternal not as a wound we refuse to close, but as a love that refuses to forget. We light candles and stand before the Cross because, with one voice, we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the age to come.

Give rest and peace, O Lord, to the souls of Your servants, and bring comfort and healing to all who still carry that day in their hearts.

May the memory of all who perished 25 years ago today be eternal.

Christ is Risen. And one day, so will they be. ✝ 🙏

110 Stories History Series - vol 21

In our volume 21 of the History Series, I am excited to share with you this letter and financial report from 1945, the year construction was completed on the new church. It's wonderful to see the vision, planning, and ex*****on of Fr. Benedict and the board who were able to accomplish so much in so little time, even with the economic challenges of World War II.

I can't help but echo the sentiments in Fr. Benedict's letter, that "whatever has been accomplished up to today is owed to your piety, your generosity, and the hard work of the board of trustees."

It truly feels as if history is repeating itself with all that has been accomplished in the last few years, again, by the grace of God, and the generosity of this community.
