While the holidays are often presented as times of joy and happiness, sometimes grief, anxiety, and depression can accompany us through the season. That’s why Faith Lutheran will be offering a “Longest Night” service on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m. The longest night service is held on, or close to, the winter solstice – that day with the least sunlight, and the longest period of darkness.

The service is quiet and reflective in tone, giving space for emotions such as sadness, loss or grief, along with words of hope and a reminder that even the most shadowed night eventually gives way to dawn and new hope. There will be a space for remembrance of what has been lost through candle lighting, as well as scriptures, readings and songs. Anyone experiencing grief or loss is welcome to join us for this service.

As of November 1st, 445,000 of our neighbors across Northern Illinois have lost their SNAP benefits — and the need for food assistance is about to rise dramatically.

For the past 7 years, Faith Lutheran’s Micro Pantry has been a lifeline for those in our community facing sudden emergencies — offering non-perishable, non-expired food and personal care items 24/7, no questions asked.

💔 Right now, our shelves are running low — and we need your help.

Please consider donating as much as you can to help families in crisis. Items marked with an asterisk (*) are especially needed:
