Universalist Unitarian Church of Joliet

Universalist Unitarian Church of Joliet Nurture Your Spirit and Heal our World! Services are held every Sunday at 10:30am. We are a Welcoming Congregation - all are invited!

"Love is the doctrine of this church; the quest of truth is its sacrament; and service is its prayer... "

Welcome to the Universalist Unitarian Church of Joliet! We aspire to be a community that welcomes people of all races, classes, abilities, religious backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and all the other myriad and beautiful ways of being human. Your gifts and your wounds are

welcome here. Unitarian Universalism is a covenantal faith, not a creedal one. This means we believe all people have the right and responsibility to find and follow the spiritual paths that best help them live their lives with purpose, meaning, integrity and joy. While "we need not think alike to love alike," we do believe we are a part of the interdependent web of all creation, and so the purpose of religious community is to help and sustain individuals in their own spiritual lives, while creating together a Beloved Community more powerful than the sum of its parts. We need one another to challenge us, support us, struggle with us, and walk with us as we create a world of justice and beauty that affirms the inherent worth and dignity all people and the earth. Members of our church have many different religious beliefs. If you took a straw poll, you'd hear words ranging from "atheist" to "Christian" to "Pagan" to "agnostic" to "mystic" to "humanist." We are enriched by this diversity, and committed to helping one another pursue deep and meaningful spiritual lives--even if our individual paths don't always look alike. We invite you to bring your whole self--questions and doubts, commitments and beliefs, yearnings and gifts.

We had a work day scheduled to clean up Covenant Woods after tomorrow's service, between noon and three; qe have canceled that due to rain and the undoubted presence of mud! We moved the date to the twenty-sixth, same time.
