Legalism provides no peace; no assurance of salvation; no rest in grace. We see the difference between childlike faith and legalism in Jesus’ encounters with the little children and the rich, young ruler as we continue in our exposition of the gospel of Mark.

There is much to be said about marriage and divorce in God’s Word. This past Sunday, we heard how Jesus taught the disciples on the topic, as well as how Paul addressed the same topic through his God-inspired letter written to the church in Corinth.

“If anyone desires to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” (Mark 9:35)

Pride and haughtiness run rampant. So often do we tend to make much of ourselves, as a “me first” mentality is seemingly promoted and celebrated in the world. This past Sunday, however, we read together in Mark 9:30-41 how Jesus taught humility and exemplifies it Himself.

“Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.”

This is likely an expression we all personally resonate with and have even said ourselves. Yesterday morning, we resumed our exposition of the gospel according to Mark, where we approached in Mark 9:14-29 the account of Jesus’ interaction with a young boy with an unclean spirit and his father who uttered these words.

It is clear in our world today that the devil is still prowling around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. However, as we heard last week, Christ’s promise rings true that He will come again. And when He does, He will bind Satan and establish His millennial kingdom. Hallelujah!

So now we might ask, what will it look like when:
🔹 Christ establishes His 1,000-year reign from Jerusalem,
🔹 The devil is incarcerated for 1,000 years, and
🔹 The redeemed are ruling with Christ on earth?

Though we know a Great Tribulation will come upon the earth as we heard last week, God will fulfill His promise: our risen King will come again! When Jesus returns to establish His millennial kingdom, one might wonder:

What will be the condition of…

…the earth?

…those who are believers and unbelievers on the earth?

…those that return with Christ?

It is our prayer that, after seeing what God’s Word has to say in answering these questions and many others we might have about Christ’s return, the Church will respond by joining together with John in his cry: “Come, Lord Jesus!” (Revelation 22:20).
