Today, one of our neighborhoods was shaken.
In broad daylight, as children were coming home from school, violence erupted on one of our moxham streets. A family was attacked. Police tape stretches across a place where families walk, children play, and our neighbors live their everyday lives.
My heart is heavy tonight.
Not because violence is new to our city, but because every time it happens, it reminds us that these aren’t just headlines. These are our neighbors. Our streets. Our children. Our community. This affects us.
Tonight, we pray for every victim, witness, first responder, and every family carrying fear because of what they saw or experienced today and have been for awhile now in our streets.
We pray for healing.
We pray for protection.
We pray for justice.
And we pray for the hearts of those who choose violence. We ask that God would break cycles of anger, hopelessness, addiction, trauma, and hatred before another family is hurt.
As followers of Jesus, we MUST refuse to become numb!
We MUST refuse to accept violence as normal!
We refuse to stop believing that lives can change and communities can heal.
Johnstown needs more than opinions.
We need prayer.
We need compassion.
We need neighbors who care.
We need fathers and mothers investing in the next generation.
We need churches united!
We need HOPE.
Tonight, would you join me in praying for our city?
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9
Lord, let peace rise where violence has tried to take root. Protect our children. Heal our neighborhoods. Restore what has been broken. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
We stand believing that violence is not the final story.
