The Restoring of the Mind

We must be yielded to the Holy Ghost so He can guide us in His Word. The number one responsibility of a believer is to maintain an open heart of hearing towards the Spirit of God. Faith comes by hearing or awakening. But how does this awakening come? It comes from a soft open heart, having ears to hear. Attentive ears to His sayings allows the Holy Spirit to fulfill with ease guiding us in Truth. The cares of this life will choke the Word and cause it to not produce fruit. Love the Lord your God with all your heart. This is the beginning of developing ears to hear. I agree with Kenneth Hagin when he said (about Romans 12:2) transformation comes by the restoring of the mind. To restore means to bring it back to what it was created for. The Amplified Bible refers to a new attitude, this is ears to hear the Holy Spirit. The mind was created for only one working, only one leading and that is the Holy Spirit. When you allow the new nature to work in your mind it enables the Holy Spirit to guide you in all Truth, or in all that makes you free. You have a new nature that will transform you when cooperated with. The new nature is just like God created in righteousness and true holiness. This new nature answers the high call of God established before He created the world. God knows the only way to be free from the course of this world is to provide a working nature which is greater than he that is in this world. If we were by nature children of wrath, then by nature we are children of God.

Ephesians 2:3-10
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Notice we experience the heavenly in Christ. God has provided us access to be in Christ so He can…

Verse 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Notice verse 10 is a purpose scripture because we have been before ordained, or before He created anything to walk in that which is a product of His workmanship. The mind must be restored to this purpose. Your mind was made by God for God. Your mind was created to be an instrument of His workmanship yielded to only one working. It is the working in Christ that we were predestined to experience and that working will produce in and through our lives the God works.

By Nature Children of God

We are in this world, but not of this world. We are of God’s Kingdom, which is not of this world’s kingdom. We are new creatures. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. The new Creation functions different than the one of this world. What makes us different than this world is the Spirit that we are led by now as a new creation.
In Christ you are a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God…

Notice it is being in Christ that makes us a new creation. Or we can say it this way the new creation is only found in Christ. The new creation is in the operation of the Holy Spirit and the working of His power that functioned in Jesus that made Him the Christ. Knowing what we know so far we can say if anyone operates in the working of the Holy Spirit and in the operation of His power they are a new species that are different than the species that walks in in this world. The course of the Kingdom of God operates through the Holy Spirit and in the operation of His power. This world operates under the control of the prince of the power of the air. This new creation is different than the course of this world.

Ephesians 2:1-3
1 And you hath he quickened, (made alive) who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

We need to ask the question, disobedient to what? We find the answer in the next verse.

Verse 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

The problem was they were not embracing the new nature that was from God. The nature that they were following had no life in it. The nature of the “new creation” that you received has everything God is in it so therefore it is Life. The children of God live by the nature of God.
There is no greater power to be led by than the power that is working in you mightily by the Holy Ghost. You are by nature a child of God. You are a child of His Kingdom, embrace it and walk in it.

The Ability of the Holy Spirit Upon You

You are in this world but the world does not define who you are. We are of God’s design and He alone defines us. We are born of His Spirit when we are born again.

John 3:5-8
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Jesus defined being born again as being born of the Holy Ghost. Say that out loud, “I’m born of the Holy Spirit.” The devil hates hearing that. We are alive unto God, the new real us is our newly created Spirits. We have seen that this is what Jesus was anointed with that made Him the Christ. The Lord gave me this definition for the anointing, it is, “the ability of the Holy Spirit upon the believer to achieve the will of the Holy Spirit.” This anointing is what sent Jesus in the world, and it is what sends us in the world.

John 20:21-22
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

Jesus was saying receive that Spirit that has sent Me. So that makes us sent ones as well.
Through humility and reverence to the working of God, we bring to the surface all that saves us, and that would be everything that is working in us mightily. Once we received Christ as Lord we work out that salvation with reverence and humility.

Philippians 2:12-13
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

We manifest outwardly that which makes us children of God when we yield to what is working in us mightily. Through exalting this working to the highest place we manifest the sons of God in the earth.

Sensitivity to the Working

God has purposed us in Christ before He created anything. What does it mean to be in Christ?
Christ is not Jesus’ last name. Christ is defined as the Anointed One and His anointing. What was He anointed with that made Him the Christ?..
Acts 10:38
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Notice it calls Him Jesus of Nazareth, not Jesus Christ, and it shows what He was anointed with-the Holy Ghost and power. That power refers to the operation or working of the Holy Spirit or the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God did not just come in Word but in power and demonstration of the Holy Ghost. Jesus was born in this earth by the Holy Ghost and at the age of 30 was anointed for ministry with the Holy Spirit.
Jesus went to be baptized in the river Jordan to fulfil all righteousness, and when He came out of the water the Holy Spirit descended like a dove and came upon Him. This is the anointing He was anointed with. Then that anointing led Him in the wilderness to fast for 40 days. He was fasting for the purpose to become more sensitive to what came upon Him. Jesus knew He had to grow in sensitivity to what came upon Him, so He could respond and react with ease to the Anointing. The proof that He did is seen in Luke 4 when He came out of the wilderness in the Power of the Holy Ghost, and the first place He went was in the Temple and read the passage, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, for He has anointed Me to…” So if the purpose is fulfilled by us being in Christ, then it means the purpose is fulfilled through us abiding in that which made Jesus the Christ, which is the Holy Spirit and the working of His power. Now we must grow in sensitivity to the flow of that working.
