Heavenly Father, on this Christmas Day, we give thanks for the miracle of the Incarnation, the Word made flesh. Thank You for revealing the glory of Your one and only Son. May our hearts be filled with awe and gratitude as we celebrate the wondrous gift of Jesus, God with us. Amen. https://taptopray.com/prayer/christmas2025_31

On Sunday, December 21 @ 3 PM Grove Avenue United Methodist and Homestead United Methodist Churches will host a Blue Christmas Service at Grove Avenue UMC (501 Grove Avenue). While the world sparkles with twinkling lights, some of us are just trying to make it through the day. There’s the empty chair. The diagnosis. The relationship that is fraying. The fragile future. And so, we are creating something gentler—a soft place to land when the season feels too heavy to carry alone.
We are reminded that we’re not the only ones. It is painfully normal to feel the ache more sharply, when the world says we should feel joy. And that is why we are making room for the transition between pain and promise. The hurt is real. The night is long. And we gather. We light the smallest flicker, whisper any prayer, and remember, together: we are not alone. Thanks be to God!

How true!

"The Spirit continues to draw the church back to the core of the Gospel: love that both liberates and reconciles," writes Rev. Dr. Tércio Bretanha Junker in an editorial shared with United Methodist News .

Dr. Junker invites United Methodists to look for and root out the ways that fear is masked as faith. "Jesus never established a movement based on fear; he built a community of faith where love is stronger than death and hope exceeds despair."
