Join us tonight at 7PM in the Sanctuary for our Good Friday Tenebrae Service.

From Sundays & Seasons: "Life and death stand side by side as we enter into Good Friday. In John's passion account, Jesus reveals the power and glory of God, even as he is put on trial and sentenced to death. Standing with the disciples at the foot of the cross, we pray for the whole world in the ancient bidding prayer, as Christ's death offers life to all. We gather in solemn devotion, but always with the promise that the tree around which we assemble is indeed a tree of life. We depart silently, and we anticipate the culmination of the Three Days in the Easter Vigil."

The kids had fun at the egg hunt this past weekend! They ate a lot of snacks, hunted eggs, made a cross necklace and heard the story of why we celebrate Easter!

Join us this evening at 7PM in the Sanctuary for our Maundy Thursday service. Our service will include Holy Communion and will conclude with a Stripping of the Altar. All are welcome!

From Sundays and Seasons: "This evening our Lenten observance comes to an end, and we gather with Christians around the world to celebrate the Three Days of Jesus’ death and resurrection. Tonight we remember Christ’s last meal with his disciples, but the central focus is his commandment that we live out the promise embodied in this meal. As Jesus washed his disciples’ feet, so we are called to give and receive love in humble service to one another. Formed into a new body in Christ through this holy meal, we are transformed by the mercy we have received and carry it into the world. Departing worship in solemn silence, we anticipate the coming days."

All are welcome to join us tomorrow for our Ash Wednesday services, as we enter into the 40-Day Journey of Lent ✝️

From 7AM to 9AM, stop by the church for an Imposition of Ashes “to-go.”

And at noon and 6:45PM we will have our traditional Ash Wednesday service with the Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion.

⚜️ Join us for our annual Shrove Tuesday Dinner this coming Tuesday, February 17th at 6PM! ⚜️

💜We’ll have dinner provided by the Fellowship Committee (free of cost!) and trivia for all ages, so be sure to bring your competitive spirit with you.
💚We encourage you to stay for a bit after dinner for our brief Burning of the Palms service, as well!

Our congregation recently learned of the passing of Janice Beck. Janice served as organist at Mount Calvary for several years and was instrumental in the purchasing of our handbells and beginning a handbell choir at MCLC. We lift up her family and friends in prayer, especially her husband Russell and son, Ryan, in their grief. We give thanks to God for the gifts of music that Janice shared throughout her lifetime and for the sure and certain hope of the resurrection, that we will be reunited again one day with the saints that have gone before us.

Happy New Year! As we look forward to the ways that God will continue to be at work in our lives together, we are reflecting on the ways that God has already been at work among us.

December was a busy month full of Christmas season gatherings including a Young Adults Christmas Party, VIP Christmas Banquet (not pictured), WELCA meeting and gift exchange, Christmas stocking project for our homebound and members over 80, an outing with our Children’s Ministry to Sara’s, Luminary Set-Up and Christmas Eve Service, and most recently bidding farewell to our Organist, R.J. Thomas as he moves on to serve at Advent Lutheran in Augusta.

Wherever you find yourself at the start of this New Year, know that there is a place for you here at Mount Calvary! We hope you’ll join us for Sunday School at 10AM and Worship at 11AM—for a list of our gatherings during the week, check out our updated church calendar online!
