In times of conflict and division, the world seeks temporary solutionsโceasefires, negotiations, and political alliances. But as followers of Christ, we are called to look beyond the turmoil of the moment and set our eyes on the only true and lasting peace: Jesus Christ. His peace is not like the worldโs peace, which is fleeting and fragile. His peace is everlasting, unshaken by borders, politics, or human conflict.

As Christians, we often find ourselves struggling to understand where we should stand amidst the worldโs conflicts. Yet, the Church of Jesus Christ must always remember that there is only one true nation under God, and that is His Church. The same Holy Spirit that dwells in the Church in the United States is present in the Church in Africa. The same Spirit moves powerfully among believers in Ukraine and also among those in Russia. While nations rise and fall, while alliances shift and divisions deepen, the body of Christ remains one.
There is something beyond political affiliations. There is something beyond earthly divisions. There is something beyond a temporary ceasefire. It is the eternal peace that comes only through Christ. When discussing the conflicts between nations, we must never forget that among every people, in every language and nation, there are believers who are part of the same body of Christ. They are our brothers and sisters, bound together not by nationality, but by the blood of Jesus.

While we are called to pray for the leaders and authorities of the world (1 Timothy 2:1-2), we must also recognize that our ultimate battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). The real enemy is not a nation or a peopleโit is sin, hatred, and the deception that blinds hearts to the truth of the gospel.
In the midst of war and suffering, God is at work. I have personally witnessed His power moving in Ukraine, where churches are filling up, people are turning to Christ, and many are praying, even under the rubble of destruction. There are believers who, despite the pain, are choosing to love their enemies. I have heard stories of Ukrainians extending love and forgiveness, and likewise, there are Russians who are against the war, standing for truth, and loving those whom the world would call their enemies.
One powerful testimony comes from a Russian friend of mine who became a missionary among Ukrainians. When the war began, he did not flee. He chose to stay and minister to those in need, risking his own life for the sake of Christ. Because of his decision, he can never return to his homeland, yet he remains steadfast, knowing that his true citizenship is in the Kingdom of God. He understands that he belongs to a greater nationโnot one defined by borders, but one united under Christ.

As we navigate these turbulent times, let us remember that Jesus is the Holy Peacemaker. He calls us to be people of peace, not by ignoring injustice, but by living out the radical love of the gospel. True peace is not found in treaties or political resolutions; it is found in Christ alone.
Let us be a people who embody the Kingdom of God, who love beyond borders, and who remain faithful to the truth that there is only one lasting peaceโJesus Christ, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). And as we pray for the world, may we also live as ambassadors of His peace, reminding ourselves and others that Jesus is the only one who can bring true and everlasting reconciliation to all people.
