We are getting ready to celebrate Independence Day in this nation. Two hundred and forty five years ago we declared our nation a sovereign country, and what a nation this is! I proudly salute our flag and all those who served in the past and those who serve now in our nation's military! While we definitely have our problems this is still the greatest nation in the world, made up of every race, culture and nationality just about known to mankind. For over two centuries we've figured out a way to make this thing called Democracy work. While I have my opinions like others do, I realize that in order to have a true Democracy, the arena of ideas must be for everyone not just a specific few. God said in His word that each one of us were "fearfully and wonderfully made." That means that we all have worth and value and are created, (not evolved from Apes) in His image with a God-given Spirit/Soul and plan for our lives. I believe God raised up this nation to first be a friend of Israel and secondly to be a beacon of light around the world. There are other reasons but time doesn't permit at this moment. Our founding fathers, yes flawed, were men and women of insight, passion and committed to the great idea of a nation where we could pursue God by the dictates of our hearts and dream to have a future where men and women of every nation could come and build a life worthy of our great calling. No, we are not perfect, yes we have made our mistakes, yet show me a nation anywhere that hasn't made it's own mistakes. I heard a funny statement but so true. It goes like this, "You know how you can tell the difference between a rich American and a poor American? A poor American has to wash his own Cadillac!" What other country on the scale of America affords every person an opportunity to live a life of freedom, joy and prosperity? However let me say this, we are given an opportunity not guaranteed success, not entitled but merely the freedom to pursue our dreams and goals! When I was younger and involved in sports, we won games and lost games. We won championships and lost championships, and in it all it taught me about life. Sometimes I will succeed and sometimes I will not but I learn from each situation and grow from my victories but really more from my failures. I hope and pray that this Fourth of July you will celebrate with this understanding in mind that God raised this nation up for such a time as this. God Bless America and America give thanks unto your Maker!
