A Prayer by His Holiness The Dalai Lama
(from “Ethics for a New Millenium”)

May I become, at all times, both now and forever,
a protector for those without a protector;
A guide for those who have lost their way;
A ship for those with oceans to cross;
and a sanctuary for those in danger;
May I be a lamp for those in need of light;
A refuge for those in need of shelter,
and a servant to all those in need.
~His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama

🌈 Happy Pride Month!🌈

Pride Month is a celebration, but in Appalachia, it’s also something more: visibility, resilience, and community.

For generations, LGBTQ+ people have lived, loved, worked, and raised families in these mountains. Despite the stereotype that q***r people don’t belong in rural communities, we’ve always been here. Pride is a reminder that our stories, identities, and contributions are part of the fabric of Appalachia.

In a region where many still face isolation, discrimination, or the pressure to hide who they are, Pride creates space for connection, support, and hope. It tells every LGBTQ+ person from the smallest holler to the largest city, that they are not alone.

This month, we celebrate the progress we’ve made, honor those who paved the way, and recommit ourselves to building an Appalachia where everyone can live openly, safely, and authentically.

Because Pride isn’t just for big cities. It belongs in our mountains, our small towns, our communities, and our hearts.

Happy Pride Month. We are here. We have always been here. And we’re not going anywhere. 🏳️‍🌈💜

Today we honor Vesak, the most sacred day in the Buddhist tradition, commemorating the Buddha’s birth, awakening, and passing into Parinirvana.

More than a celebration of one life, Vesak points to the possibility of awakening within each of us—the capacity to meet the world with wisdom, compassion, and a heart free from fear.

May this day inspire peace, compassion, and freedom for all beings.

These situations are the scriptures ~ The only way to relate with the present situation of spirituality or the neurotic state of the moment is by meditation. I don't mean sitting meditation only, but relating with the emotional situations of daily life in a meditative way, by working with them, being aware of them as they come up. Every situation then becomes a learning process. These situations are the books; they are the scriptures.
