Washington County, Tennessee Schools return to class Tuesday, as students, staff, and faculty at Boones Creek Elementary grieve the loss of Riley (11) and Maggie (9) Blevins who died in a Christmas morning house fire. Their mother was critical injured and being treated for her severe burns.
Superintendent Jerry Boyd says the district is here for students and is doing everything possible to support them emotionally as they begin the healing process. They will have counselors on hand this week.
βAnytime the loss of life happens, especially young lives, it's a terribly tragic time," said Boyd. "My heart goes out to the families and the friends, and our teachers and staff who worked closely with the two. Our number priority was to give any kind of support we can offer for the family and then our faculty, staff, and students, and everyone that needs it."
