🐾 Devotional: Caring for God’s Creatures
Scripture
Proverbs 12:10 (NIV)
“The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.”
---
Reflection
From the beginning, God entrusted humanity with the care of His creation. In Genesis, He gave us "dominion" over the animals—not to exploit, but to steward. Just as a loving gardener tends to plants, we are to treat animals with care and respect, recognizing them as part of God’s good and purposeful design.
Proverbs reminds us that compassion toward animals is a mark of righteousness. It’s not just about pets we love, but also about how we treat working animals, wildlife, and even creatures we may not fully understand. In God’s eyes, no creature is forgotten—not even a sparrow (Matthew 10:29).
When we treat animals with kindness, we reflect God’s heart of mercy and stewardship. In a world often marked by dominance and neglect, choosing gentleness is a quiet act of worship.

Questions for Reflection
Do I consider animals as part of God’s creation that deserve care and dignity?
Are there changes I can make to treat animals more kindly—whether in how I live, farm, eat, or advocate?
What does my treatment of animals say about my understanding of God’s character?

Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the beauty and diversity of the animals You have created. You are a God of detail, compassion, and life. Teach me to honor all that You have made. Give me a heart that reflects Your kindness—not just to people, but to all Your creatures. Help me to be a wise and gentle steward of creation, living out my faith in how I care for the world around me.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
