On Sunday, our next generation took over every position from the worship team to our safety team and everything in between!

The Spirit of God was so palpable in this place!

We are beyond grateful for the best kids and students departments in the world. (I’m sure we’re not biased or anything…)

Our Colombia church family is facing catastrophic flooding in Montería.

The Pastors, their families, and at least 15 church families have evacuated their homes. The Sinú River has flooded the city causing over 50,000 people to be displaced. Many are being hosted in tight quarters at the church, disease and sickness has been settling in the area, and needs are urgent.

Many families have lost everything — furniture, appliances, business machines they saved up years for, etc..

Today we have the opportunity to provide HOPE for our Colombia family! The Altar is sending down funds immediately today and raising additional support. All funds will be sent straight to the church in Monteria.

We’re EXTENDING the deadline for Tribe leader applications! If you attend The Altar locally and would like to lead a Tribe, please apply by no later than the end of the day on Sunday, February 8.

💡 And don’t forget, Tribes can be about anything — Bible study, fitness, mommy meetups, car repairs, and board games are just some of the recent focuses of our last season.

For those in the kingdom, the most important thing is not your “truth,” self-actualization, or self-esteem. Instead, we’re called to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and die to our own desires.

Tragically, we often understand suffering as the thing Jesus endured so we wouldn’t have to. Then, suffering comes, and we question the existence of God.

We think He failed to hold up His end of this “bargain.”

But Jesus told his disciples — as He reminds us through the Holy Spirit and His Word — that they would need to lay everything down to follow him.

They had to deny themselves.

They had to set aside earthly comforts.

They had to die.

An in exchange, they would united with Christ in His death… and then, His resurrection.

What does it look like today for you to embrace the suffering of Christ?

Raising our kids to love God and His heart is not an inconvenience. It is our single greatest privilege!

Every parent who teaches their little ones to worship, pray, and turn to Jesus in their toughest moments…
Each volunteer who says “YES” to serving in The Altar Kids…
And all the bonus moms, dads, grandmas, aunties, gramps, and uncles who step in to lift the arms of parents who get tired…
