Psalm 145:4: "One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts".
Grandparents play such an essential role in the world today. In their aging bodies, and long past the twinkle in their eyes, lies the history, knowledge, and wisdom that has brought us to this day. They are trusted witnesses of times past, they are the survivors that have carved a path, paved the roads and invented all the things that have brought ease to our lives today. Grandparents are essential!
Generations hold immense significance for God. He extends our parents’ lives long enough to impart crucial information to the next generation. The way we utilize the time granted to us by the Lord will have a profound impact on our lineage. The stories we tell, the knowledge we share, the guidance we provide, and the loving care we extend to our children and their descendants will shape the future of our heritage.
Today’s generation might slip away if we don’t become intentional and unafraid to engage with them. As parents, we must teach our children to honor and respect their grandparents, to listen attentively, and to value the information and love they share. As grandparents, we can be transparent, welcoming, understanding, and above all, we can offer powerful, life changing prayers for our grandchildren.
I feel the Lord reminding me of my responsibility to commend His works to the next generation. God has been incredibly kind to us, and as I grow older, I realize that the opportunity to make a positive impact remains. There’s still time to share my experiences, love, resources, and most importantly, share God with them. As a grandparent, I have the privilege of influencing my family’s lives, and I’m not afraid to do so! Let’s celebrate Grandparents Day by being intentional about sharing our life, love, and resources with our loved ones so that one day we will all receive a crown of glory!
Today, we honor and celebrate our grandparents. We take this day to recognize their immense value and express our deepest appreciation for all the love they have given us. Although my grands are now in heaven, I can still look back and cherish their wisdom, knowledge, and love. Their presence in my life has been a constant source of blessing. God is faithful!
