Rally Day 2026 — Let's Kick Off the Season Together!

On Sunday, September 13, starting at 10:00 a.m., the church grounds turn into a carnival — games for the kids, bingo for the grown-ups, and food that hits every craving: chili, hot dogs, all the toppings, chips, and ice cream to top it off.

Rally Day marks the official start of Sunday School, Confirmation, and Youth Group for the year, and it's always been more than just a program kickoff — it's a chance for our whole church family, and anyone curious about Bethesda, to come together, have fun, and feel what this community is all about.

Whether you've been here every Sunday or you've never set foot inside, you're welcome. Bring your kids, bring your neighbors, bring a friend who's been meaning to check us out. There's no better day to do it.

Back to School Night at The Lord's Cupboard - Jewell, Iowa is almost here and we need your help! Every year, we provide South Hamilton Community Schools families in need with school supplies for the upcoming year.

Please bring donations to Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell (439 Main St.) by Sunday, August 2, 2026.

If you're a family who could use some help, please come to Bethesda on Monday, August 3, 5:00-6:30 p.m. to pick up your supplies.

Sunday was an exciting and important day in the life of Bethesda Lutheran Church. The congregation overwhelmingly voted to extend a call to Reverend Jonathan Dolan to serve as our pastor. The proposed compensation package was also approved.

A special thank you goes to Pastor Jen Thomas, who served as the Northeastern Iowa Synod, ELCA representative during this meeting. We appreciate the Synod’s guidance and support along the way.

Thank you as well to our Call Committee, Church Council, and everyone who spent countless hours praying, meeting, discussing, and trusting God’s direction during this process.

We are excited for what lies ahead and look forward to Pastor Jonathan serving as our shepherd, faithfully preaching God’s Word, caring for our congregation, and helping lead Bethesda into the future.

Please keep Pastor Jonathan, his family, and our church family in your prayers as we begin this new chapter together.
