Happy Throwback Thursday!

Today, we take a moment to look back and celebrate where it all began. For generations, our parish family at St. Athanasius has faithfully supported Catholic education, helping shape the minds, hearts, and faith of countless students.

From classroom improvements and school traditions to prayers, volunteer hours, and financial support, our parish community has been the foundation of St. Athanasius Catholic School's success. We are incredibly grateful for the unwavering commitment and generosity that continue to make our school a special place to learn and grow.

It's not a medical title. The Church names a Doctor when a saint's teaching has so shaped the faith that the whole Church learns from it. There are only 38 in two thousand years. St. Ephrem, remembered today, earned it writing hymns... he taught doctrine in poetry so ordinary people could sing what they believed.

The Interim Mass Schedule will be in place from July 15, 2026 through January 15, 2027. This interim schedule will provide an opportunity to thoughtfully evaluate the needs of the pastorate and discern the need for any further adjustments.

We encourage everyone to approach these coming months with openness, prayer, and a willingness to allow the schedule time to work before conclusions are drawn. We are grateful for the patience, flexibility, and prayerful support of our parish communities during this transition.

In his letter to the Romans, St. Paul encourages fellow Christians to uphold steady prayer, “Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, persevere in prayer.” As we continue to move forward with the Journey in Faith initiative, prayer serves as our foundation. Prayer for the people of God, especially parish staff members, and those who bear the yoke of leadership.

Having a set day of communal prayer will strengthen our bonds as an Archdiocesan community. Lifting up our souls, hearts and minds simultaneously surely will rise as a pleasing offering before God.⁣ This Wednesday, we will share a communal prayer to offer up for Journey in Faith.

Jesup Knights of Columbus Council #8227 – June Meeting Reminder.

The Jesup KC’s #8227 will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 16th with Mass at 5:00 PM and installation of officers after mass in the church. Social and Meal will follow at the St. Athanasius School Lunchroom. Spouses are invited to attend this event.

Menu will be Ribeye Steak or Chicken, with Cheesy Potatoes, Green Beans, Bread and Dessert. Cost will be $20.00 per person. (Please specify if you would like Steak or Chicken) You must RSVP via e-mail no later than June 12th to Brett at [email protected] or by (TEXT ONLY) to Brett. Thank you.
