🌟🌌 Sunday School Follow-Up! 🌌🌟

Yesterday, Calvary Kids learned about God’s Covenant with Abraham from Genesis 12, 15, and 17! 📖✨ God made amazing promises to Abraham, including that his family would become a great nation. Even when the promise seemed impossible, God is faithful and always keeps His promises! ❤️🙌

⭐ 1. Count the Stars! 🌟
Head outside after dark or make paper stars together! Challenge your kids to count as many stars as they can. Ask, “Could Abraham count all the stars God showed him?” Talk about how God promised Abraham a family as numerous as the stars and how amazing God’s promises are!

⭐ 2. Promise Reminder Jar 🫙❤️
Decorate a jar and fill it with slips of paper listing promises God gives us in His Word, such as His presence with us (Matthew 28:20) and His love for us (Romans 8:38–39). Read the verses together and talk about how we can trust God because He is faithful!

🎃🍂 Children’s Church Family Follow-Up: Pumpkins and Parables — The Greatest Treasure! 🍂🎃

📖 Bible Story: Matthew 13:44–46
🎯 Main Point: God is greater than any treasure!
💡 Life Truth: When we realize how great God is, we will value Him more than anything else in the world.
📖 Memory Verse: Psalm 25:4 — “Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.”

💎 What We Learned

Jesus told two short parables about people who discovered something so valuable that they joyfully gave up everything else to have it. One man found treasure hidden in a field, and another found a pearl of great value. Both recognized that what they found was worth more than anything they owned!

God is greater than any treasure we could ever find! Money, toys, games, and other things may make us happy for a little while, but nothing compares to knowing God and having a relationship with Him. ❤️

If Jesus is my greatest treasure, then...

🙌 I will put Him first in my life.

❤️ I will love Him more than my stuff.

📖 I will want to know Him through His Word.

🤝 I will obey Him, even when it is hard.

🗣️ I will gladly tell others about Him!

🗣️ Family Discussion Questions

What did the man discover hidden in the field?

What did the merchant find that was so valuable?

Why were the men willing to give up everything to get their treasure?

What are some things that people today might treasure?

Can anything we own compare to knowing God? Why or why not?

What does it look like to put Jesus first in our everyday lives?

What is one thing that might distract you from spending time with God?

How can our family show that Jesus is our greatest treasure?

🎃 Family Activities

1. Treasure Hunt! 💎
Hide a special object somewhere in your home. Give your children clues to help them find it. Afterward, talk about how exciting it is to find something valuable. Remind them that knowing God is worth more than any object we could find!

2. Pumpkin Treasure Craft 🎃
Draw or cut out a pumpkin shape on paper. Inside the pumpkin, have each family member write or draw ways they can put Jesus first, such as praying, reading the Bible, obeying God, or showing kindness. Display your pumpkins as a reminder of what matters most!

3. Treasure or Trash? 🪙
Name different things, such as toys, money, friends, family, the Bible, video games, and knowing Jesus. Ask your children which things are temporary and which things help us grow closer to God. Explain that enjoying good gifts is okay, but nothing should take God's place in our hearts.

4. Memory Verse Challenge 📖
Practice Psalm 25:4 together. Add motions to help everyone remember:

“Show me” — point outward.

“Your ways” — walk in place.

“Teach me” — open hands like a book.

“Your paths” — point ahead.

Repeat the verse until everyone can say it together!

🙏 Family Prayer

“Dear God, thank You for being greater than anything in this world. Help us understand how wonderful You are and treasure our relationship with You above everything else. Teach us Your ways and help us put Jesus first in our choices every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

🌟 Family Challenge

This week, ask each family member to name one thing that often competes for their attention. Make a plan to set aside time for God through prayer, Bible reading, or worship. Remember: The greatest treasure isn't something we can buy—it's knowing God! ❤️🎃

1. Sunday is Family Worship Day! Praise bags are available for kids during the service.

2. If you are planning to attend the Poppell Farms social, please register on our website, attached below, or message Ms. Danelle. We'll meet at the farm at 2pm. You can purchase your tickets at the farm or on their website.

3. No children's choir this Monday due to Fall Break.

The power is out at the church and we don’t have a place to practice with needed materials.
Keep practicing at home. I’ll add new songs later this afternoon on the BAND app.

Next week is fall break so our next practice is October 19th.

Calvary Kids Announcements for the week!

Sign up for our social event at Poppell Farms next Sunday, Oct. 11th from 2-5pm. You can purchase your tickets on their website or when you arrive at the farm. This is not a drop off event.
Sign up on the events page so we have a head count.

This coming Sunday is Family Worship Day. Praise bags will be available for kids 2 yrs to 5th grade. Our nursery is available for babies to 2 yrs old.
