The biggest and most frustrating misconception about egoism is probably the idea that to be an egoist it means doing things "that satisfy or bring pleasure my ego."

No, thats true at all. The point of recognizing your ego is not to please it (as thereby you become subject to your ego and a slave to it.) but rather take ownership of your ego and the things contained within it and possess them. Possessing here meaning you have power over them in your own right, understand the ghosts of thought within your ego and either use them or depart from them if they do not find meaning within you anymore.
