Ramadan Announcement

The Muslim Federation of New Jersey adheres to the blessed sunnah of our Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that Islamic lunar months begin and end based on the confirmed, verifiable sighting of the new crescent moon.

Moon for the month of Ramadan 1447 Hijri has NOT been sighted therefore Thursday, February 19th, 2026, will be the 1st of Ramadan 1447 Hijri in the USA.

May Allah Ta’ala make this month a blessed one for the Muslim Ummah. Ameen.

Taraweeh will start tomorrow, Wednesday, February 18th with Isha Prayer at 7:30 PM. Fajr prayer will be at 5:35 AM from Thursday morning.

MFNJ encourages everyone to go out to look for the new crescent moon (hilal) on the evening of Tuesday, February 17th (after 29 days of Sha'ban) in anticipation of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

Qualified Muslim astronomers and reliable visibility forecasts indicate that on Tuesday evening a "naked-eye" (unaided) sighting of the new crescent moon will be highly improbable in North America and around the world. You can check the visibility forecast for your region here.

From tonight Salatul Isha will start at 7:30 pm.

We will make a determination and final announcement regarding the start of Ramadan as early as possible, but no later than Tuesday, 10:30 pm.

Shab-e-Baraat/Nisf Shaban

Shab-e-Baraat will be commemorated on the evening of Monday, February 2nd (after Maghrib Salah)

The Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said that when this night comes we should spend it in prayer and fast the following day, because truly Allah calls out to His slaves from sunset until dawn:
“Is there anyone seeking forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone seeking provision from Me so I may provide for him? Is there anyone suffering so I may relieve his suffering?” Narrated by Ibn Majah

Program will include nawafil (prayed individually), speech, zikr, naat, salam, and dua. Salatul Tasbih will be after Salatul Isha.
