“Prayer can truly change your life, for it turns your attention away from yourself and directs your mind and your heart towards the Lord. If we look only at ourselves, with our own limitations and sins, we quickly give way to sadness and discouragement.

But if we keep our eyes fixed on the Lord, then our hearts are filled with hope, our minds are washed in the light of truth, and we come to know the fullness of the Gospel with all its promise and life.”

Saint John Paul ll - From his Address to the Young People of New Orleans, (September 12, 1987).

“Today the Church shows the world the Corpus Christi – the Body of Christ. And she invites us to adore him: Venite adoremus –Come let us adore him. The attention of believers is focused on the Sacrament in which Christ has left himself: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. It is the reason for considering it as the holiest reality:

“the Blessed Sacrament”, living memorial of the redeeming Sacrifice. On the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, we return to that “Thursday” which we call “Holy”, on which the Redeemer celebrated his last Passover with the disciples: it was the Last Supper, fulfilling the Jewish Passover supper and inaugurating the Eucharistic rite.”

“There is no evil to be faced that Christ does not face with us. There is no enemy that Christ has not already conquered. There is no cross to bear that Christ has not already borne for us, and does not now bear with us. And on the far side of every cross we find the newness of life in the Holy Spirit, that new life which will reach its fulfillment in the resurrection. This is our faith. This is our witness before the world.” – Saint John Paul ll - From his Eucharistic Celebration Homily, 1995.

“Darkness can only be scattered by light. Hatred can only be conquered by love.” –Saint John Paul ll - From his Address to the Diplomatic Corps, 2002.

CREATION IS GOD’S free communication of love, a communication which, out of nothing, brings everything into being. There is nothing created that is not filled with the ceaseless exchange of love that marks the innermost life of the Trinity, filled that is with the Holy Spirit: “the Spirit of the Lord has filled the world” (Wis 1:7). The presence of the Spirit in creation generates order, harmony, and interdependence in all that exists…

The presence of the Spirit in creation and history points to Jesus Christ in whom creation and history are redeemed and fulfilled. The presence and action of the Spirit both before the Incarnation and in the climactic moment of Pentecost point always to Jesus and to the salvation he brings. So too the Holy Spirit’s universal presence can never be separated from his activity within the Body of Christ, the Church.

Saint John Paul ll - Synodal Apostolic Exhortation, Ecclesia in Asia, November 6, 1999

Easter and Our Redemption

“All who seek the Son of man will see him in the Feast of Easter as a true Lamb, sacrificed for the world’s salvation.

On the Cross, Jesus died for each one of us. The Cross, therefore, is the greatest and most eloquent sign of his merciful love, the one sign of salvation for every generation and for all humanity.”
