Today we enter Holy Saturday, the day of stillness and waiting, as the Church keeps vigil at the Lord’s tomb. Here are 4 things to know:

1️⃣ No Mass is celebrated during the day: the Church remains in quiet expectation, awaiting the Resurrection.
2️⃣ A day of silence and reflection: the faithful are invited to prayer, contemplating Christ’s descent to the dead.
3️⃣ The altar remains bare: the tabernacle is empty, and the Church reflects the stillness of the tomb.
4️⃣ The liturgical color is absent until nightfall: only at the Easter Vigil does light break forth, and white returns in celebration of the Resurrection.

Today, the Church waits in hope, holding its breath between the sorrow of the Cross and the joy of Easter. 🕯️

5th Sunday of Lent
Message from Pastor Fr. Eustace Edomobi, D.Min.

Lazarus is raised from the Grave to the Light: John 11:38-44
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In the raising of Lazarus, we see a profound truth: no tomb is beyond Jesus’ power to open. His final words in today’s Gospel are a quiet but revolutionary command: “Untie him and let him go.”

Like Lazarus, many of us stand before God bound by our own “bandages”—the wounds, habits, and personal bondages that keep us prisoners of our past. We are held back by brokenness, yet Jesus calls us to breathe again. He calls us to leave the dark and walk in the Light.

As our 40-day Lenten pilgrimage nears its end, Jesus’ invitation remains: Come out! Are we willing to take those first faltering steps? There is still time to rediscover the zeal we felt on Ash Wednesday. We began this season with a mark of penitence and a promise to repent, to strive, and to be reconciled with God and neighbor. Now, we must ask ourselves: How far have we come?

Now is the time to leave the dwelling place of the dead. It may feel as though hope is lost or that change is impossible, but in Christ, we are never “as good as dead.” We can begin life anew. But just as it was for Lazarus, the most important question remains for the days after Lent: Like Lazarus, once we are raised, what happens next?

Have a blessed week!
