High Holidays Mitzvah Project for All Ages
Sunday, September 28, 1-3:00pm
We’re excited to announce that Temple Beth-El will be participating again in this year’s global Reverse Tashlich event sponsored by Repair the Sea.
Come join this important global movement by cleaning up part of Jersey City’s own waterfront. TBE and the Lincoln Park North Neighborhood Association (LPNNA) in Jersey City are teaming up to pick up trash and debris at Lincoln Park West on the Hackensack River. Gloves, bags and other materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own.
As part of a Jewish ritual called Tashlich, Jews around the world symbolically cast their sins into a body of water on Rosh Hashanah. For too long, humans have also thrown trash and debris into bodies of water, harming our local ecosystems and littering our waterfronts. As the organizers explain, “we’re turning symbolism into action by removing human 'sin' from the water."
The LPNNA aims to safeguard and enhance the interests of Lincoln Park North residents in Jersey City, NJ by preserving the neighborhood’s character, environment, and historic structures. It seeks to foster community spirit, encourage home improvement, prevent crime, and collaborate with city officials and other organizations for the welfare of the broader community.
We will meet in the Parking Lot of the Lincoln Park West Nature Trail, at the end of West Park Drive (look for a table and sign).
RSVP not required. Questions? Please drop us a line at [email protected].
