For years I wanted things and things,
security and diamond rings,
recognition, admiration
(I’m only human) and salvation;
to know ‘the secret’. Till I found
‘the secret’ was the thorns that crowned;
that the Kingdom is not hidden,
truth can never be forbidden.
And now and then in morning mist
I am sighted, held and kissed,
the Big Book breaks, the sunlight warms
with cutting rain, dark cleansing storms,
the crow caws hard, the newborn cries;
sweet love is born when my love dies.
God’s life dissolves, there’s just the lamb,
the silence in the self I am.
