Yesterday, the women of Union Baptist Church participated in the Calcasieu/Jeff Davis Area Meeting of the Seventh District Missionary Baptist Association Women’s Auxiliary.

The meeting was held at the Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lake Charles where Rev. Alvin Brass is pastor. The women held a memorial in honor of the late Sis. Linda Mitchell Loyd who served as area leader.

Sis. Etta Green, President of the Senior Mission Auxiliary of Union Baptist Church has been appointed as area leader of the Calcasieu/Jeff Davis Area. We are proud of the women of our church and association.

This past Sunday was a day for our children and young people. We were delighted to dedicate little Onii Amiaya Sinegal to God as her parents, godparents, and family witnessed her dedication ceremony. The Sunshine Band boldly sung to the glory of God under the able leadership of Sis. Andrea Woods.

We presented Sis. Elmira Trent with the Lawrence C. Catha Outstanding Faculty Advisor Award for 2025-2026 in which she was nominated by her Key Club members. Sean Cummings was awarded with the Alpha Kappa Alpha, Zeta Psi Omega Women of Versie Lee Williams Memorial Book Stipend Scholarship from Women of Excellence Educational & Charitable Scholarship Foundation Inc. He received a $500 scholarship. He retired from his position of Louisiana/Mississippi/Tennessee District Secretary-Treasurer.

Shaune Maynard is the new Louisiana/Mississippi/Tennessee Key Club District Lieutenant Governor and is retired from the position of JHS President of Key Club. Dereon Watkins is JHS Key Club President. Gabby Maynard is Key Club Webmaster. Taylor O’Neil is Key Club Freshman Representative. Kenadie Cummings, RN and JHS and NSU graduate is Co-Advisor. Congratulations leaders, children, young people, and parents.
