St. John may be moving to a new chapter, but God remains with us. This past weekend, 2 angels were sent to St. John. Keeping up with the snow removal has required some effort. Saturday while snow blowing the sidewalks, our Building & Grounds Director had a visitor. An angel arrived driving a white pickup with a plow. He cleared the parking lot and donated 2 bags of salt. Sunday morning an angel in a black truck and the white truck arrived to clear the snow prior to our services. Thank you, Lord, for watching over us. And a BIG THANKS to our angels.

After 150 years of serving God and the community, St. John Lutheran Church is going to re-start under the LCMS replant process. This means St. John will temporarily close its doors, get a new name and a new core team with a replant pastor. After all the legal work and transition work needed, she will reopen her doors ready to once again serve God and community. Our current mission work with GVSU students and veteran support will continue during our transition to the “new” church. We will use this site to keep everyone posted until we can redirect you to our new church. Thank you for all of your support over these many years. God’s Blessings to all.

A special thanks to Rosewood Church in Jenison. We met 2 of their faith leaders at a Summit in September. Rosewood committed to help St. John in our ministry to support GVSU Replenish. Today they donated milk, water, rice, pasta and more. Thank you, God, for making this connection.

Our GVSU Campus Lutherans are really showing their support for their fellow students in need. Yesterday, God granted us a window of sunshine for the students to pick more apples for Replenish. This 2nd U-pick event yielded 7 half bushels of Gala apples. We originally planned 3 events total. Our Campus Lutherans are now planning a 4th event. What a Blessing!!!

We just completed our first U-pick event with volunteers from GVSU Campus Lutherans. We picked apples at Farmhaus Farms and donated them to Replenish. Replenish supports GVSU students in need. We are partnering with local farms and GVSU students to provide fresh produce to students in need. God provided a beautiful day for picking apples.

As we approach the end of summer 2025, take a few minutes and pray for our students as they return to school. Be patient while waiting behind buses and watch carefully for those crossing streets. God Bless all students.

We are launching a new ministry at St. John. God has led us to "Replenish" (GVSU food bank). We are working with campus volunteers and local farmers to provide fresh produce to students in need. We have U-pick events scheduled and future donation drives planned. Fresh peaches were delivered this week to Replenish to kick-off our new partnership. May God continue to Bless this ministry. More to follow as this ministry develops.

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
You are encouraged to take a few minutes to read Hebrews Chapter 11 in its entirety as a reminder of how powerful faith in our Lord can be.
