About Dr. Kathy C. Thomas:
Married to Minister Curtis L. Thomas of Selma, Alabama, Dr. Kathy C. Thomas is a devoted educator, leader, and advocate. She earned her Ph.D. in Education Studies from the University of Arizona Global Campus, where she is currently completing her research dissertation. Dr. Thomas is also engaged in research collaboration with the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), contributing to studies focused on education, community health, and early childhood development.
Her academic background includes a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education Leadership from Ashford University and a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Concordia College in Selma, where she also earned an Associate degree in Childhood Development.
In 1999, Dr. Thomas was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. From this life-changing experience, she founded The LOVE Group (Ladies of Virtue Excelling) and established the annual Kathy C. Thomas “Walking It Out” Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. Her mission is deeply personal—she dedicates her advocacy and service to the memory of her cousin and best friend, Betty Jo Huckleberry Jennings (1968–2002), who courageously fought but lost her battle with breast cancer.
A devoted believer in the Word of God, Dr. Thomas lives by her daily affirmation:
“Touch lives in a positive way.” 💕
