Our women and men met for our August ministry meetings last night. The women discussed plans and ideas for upcoming meetings and packed the remaining shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Mike L. and Jason G. stayed after their meeting to help carry the 3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ shoeboxes from the basement to the sanctuary where they will stay until we move them forward in November. Please let these stacks remind us of all the children in the world who have never been introduced to Jesus or heard the gospel of Christ, and pray that the gospel seed sown here in these boxes reaches the good soil in the hearts of the children who receive them. Thanks to all who participate in our ministries and serve one another, our community, and the world as the Lord leads. ✝

Nicodemus, a Pharisee who recognized Jesus as a "teacher come from God," could not seem to get past Jesus' teaching on being "born again." Perhaps you, like Nicodemus, struggle with this, too. We will be distributing hard copies of our Constitution to help our members prepare for the upcoming business meeting.

Y'all, our Wednesday evening Bible studies are so good. Everyone is relaxed knowing they won't be called on to read or answer anything, but are free to ask about and discuss any of it. And there are so many looker-uppers, we pretty much always learn the context behind the verses. We've had 31 and 28 people the past two Wednesdays! We have some very knowledgeable people, some just learning and everything in between. We don't go by a book, other than the Bible. Pastor Don just reads, and we ask and discuss. Sometimes he offers commentary and sometimes he asks us to dig into other other parts of the Bible that reference the subject. He likes the whys, and we try to always make our way to the why during the hour. If digging in to the Bible itself is something you'd like to do with others, we invite you to come and help us dig. We are treasure hunters.
