This past Sunday, our elder, Landon Samuel, shared an encouraging message from Philippians 4:4-7 reminding us that in a world filled with fear and anxiety, we can find joy, peace, and security because the Lord is near.

Here are a few key takeaways from the message:

Unchecked fear is dangerous. It can lead us into panic and hysteria, or leave us paralyzed with inactivity. While the world constantly tells us, “You should be worried,” Paul gives a very different command:

“Do not be anxious about anything.”

Why?

Because the Lord is near.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4)

The nearness of God produces JOY.

“Do not be anxious about anything…” (Philippians 4:6)

The nearness of God produces PEACE.

Fear responds to a present threat. Anxiety dwells on uncertain future threats.

Yet God offers something greater:

“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)

The nearness of God produces SECURITY.

We don’t have to carry our burdens alone. We have a faithful Friend who invites us to place our fears, worries, and anxieties into His hands.

Sermon Recap from Last Sunday

If you missed Sunday’s message or would like a reminder of the truths we explored together, here are a few key takeaways from Ruth 4:

🌾 God Keeps His Promises — Even Through Ordinary Faithfulness

As we concluded our study of Ruth, we were reminded that God is always at work, even through the ordinary acts of faithfulness in our lives.

In Ruth 4, redemption moves into the open as Boaz steps forward to fulfill his responsibility as redeemer. While another man was initially willing, the true cost of redemption revealed a price he was unwilling to pay. Boaz, however, willingly stepped in and paid the cost.

This points us directly to Jesus Christ.

Just as Boaz voluntarily redeemed Ruth, Jesus willingly paid the price for our redemption. He took upon Himself the debt we could never pay and declared, “It is finished.”

What began with loss, grief, and bitterness ends with restoration, joy, and praise. Naomi, who once asked to be called Mara (“bitter”), now holds God’s blessing in her arms. God transformed her sorrow into fullness.

Through Ruth—a Moabite and outsider—God wove a greater story that ultimately led to King David and, generations later, to Jesus Christ. God’s grace welcomes outsiders and accomplishes eternal purposes through ordinary people who faithfully trust Him.

Truths from Ruth 4:
• Redemption is costly, but voluntary.
• God uses ordinary faithfulness to accomplish eternal purposes.
• Grace fully welcomes the outsider.
• God is always working a bigger story than we can see.

Application:
• Trust God with the ending of your story.
• Be faithful where God has placed you.
• Rest in a redemption that has already been secured through Christ.
• Never forget your value in God’s eyes—you were worth redeeming.

The book of Ruth reminds us that God’s promises never fail. What He begins, He completes, and His redemption story is still being written today.

🌾 Grace in the Fields – Ruth 2 Summary 🌾
May 17, 2026

God often works quietly — in fields, conversations, routines, jobs, and small everyday decisions. Ruth 2 reminds us that ordinary faithfulness is where extraordinary grace is often found.

After the heartbreak of chapter 1, chapter 2 begins to answer the question: Can God still be trusted after loss?
And the answer is yes. Even when we cannot see Him, God is already at work.

Before Ruth ever stepped into the field, God had already placed a redeemer nearby.

Ruth faithfully gleaned in the fields — vulnerable, overlooked, and uncertain — yet God was guiding every step. What seemed accidental was actually providence. “As it turned out” she arrived in Boaz’s field, but nothing about God’s work is accidental.

Boaz reflects the heart of God:
• He notices Ruth when others overlook her
• He protects her
• He provides generously
• He speaks blessing and kindness

Grace doesn’t merely trickle in this chapter — it overflows.

Naomi, who once believed God had abandoned her, begins to see His kindness had been present all along. Sometimes healing begins when we stop asking “Why me?” and begin asking, “God, what are You teaching me about Your faithfulness in this season?”

Ruth 2 teaches us:
✨ God is a God of providence, not coincidence
✨ God works through people who reflect His character
✨ God’s grace often comes through ordinary acts of generosity and faithfulness

Boaz points us to Jesus — our greater Redeemer — who notices the outsider, welcomes the broken, and delights in showing mercy.

Take the next faithful step, even if you cannot see the outcome yet.
Be a Boaz in someone’s field.
Recognize grace in everyday provision.

🌾 God is already working in your field.

This past Sunday, Rodney preached on The Threshold of Redemption | Ruth 3

Ruth 3 reminds us that redemption begins with trusting God enough to ask for it.

Naomi moves from survival to hope… from bitterness to belief. She longs for “rest” — security, protection, and belonging for Ruth. Her faith becomes active through bold yet lawful obedience.

“This is faith expressed through obedience.”

At the threshing floor, Ruth’s request was not about romance, but redemption:
“Spread your covering over me, since you are a kinsman redeemer.”

Boaz responds with integrity and righteousness, reminding us:
“True redemption always walks through righteousness, not around it.”

Before the story is resolved, assurance is already given. Redemption becomes inevitable — not because Ruth manipulated circumstances, but because she entrusted herself fully to a faithful redeemer.

Ruth 3 points us to Christ:
Jesus does not rest until redemption is complete.

Application for us today:
• Bring your needs honestly to the Redeemer
• Stop pretending to be self-sufficient
• Trust God’s timing, even at the threshing floor
• Reflect redemption through integrity and obedience

“Grace begins to flow when we stop pretending to be self-sufficient.”
