"Praying Our Experiences"
Session 1: What Does It Mean, to 'Pray Our Experiences'?

Many people, even committed church-goers, report dissatisfaction with their prayer lives. They fret about the consistency and frequency of their prayer practices. They wonder if they are praying effectively. They may not feel as in touch with God as they would like. They suspect that there is "something more" they should be getting out of their times of prayer. Rev. Dr. Jeff Cover leads the discussion as we explore thoughts from the book, "Praying Our Experiences," written by Joseph F. Schmidt, FSC.

Unfortunately, the audio was not working at the beginning of this session so the video is missing the first 7-ish minutes of class. Then the video froze shortly thereafter, but you are able to listen to the discussion for the remainder of class. We apologize for the technical difficulties.

"Who Were the Women at the Tomb?"
Session 3: Joanna and Susanna

This concludes Pastor Karen's enlightening discussion of women who followed Jesus that were named in the Bible.

For the next 5 weeks, Rev. Dr. Jeff Cover will lead a discussion focusing on the book, "Praying Our Experiences." Many people, even committed church-goers, report dissatisfaction with their prayer lives. They fret about the consistency and frequency of their prayer practices. They wonder if they are praying effectively. They may not feel as in touch with God as they would like. They suspect that there is "something more" they should be getting out of the times of prayer. If you have ever found yourself having some of these these thoughts, you might be especially interested in joining the discucssion.

"Who Were the Women at the Tomb?"
Session 2: Mary (the mother of Jesus), her sister Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Salome

Pyoca Camp and Retreat Center is proud to announce it has been awarded grants totaling nearly $2 million through the Lilly Endowment Inc. Capital Project Initiative for Residential Youth Camps. The funding will support critical capital improvements, including facility restoration, expanded capacity, and enhanced accessibility through Pyoca's Ignite Possibilities campaign.

"This is a moment of deep gratitude and celebration for our entire community," said Paul Fogg, Executive Director of Pyoca. "We are thankful for this incredible investment in Pyoca's future and for the many donors whose generosity has already built strong momentum for this work."

"Who Were the Women at the Tomb?"
Session 1: Mary Magdalene

Matthew writes, "Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb (28:1)." Mark says, "Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome brought spices, so that they might go and anoint him (16:1)." Luke's version of resurrection morning names, "Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and other women with them who told this to the apostles (24:10)." And John records that only "Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the tomb (20:1)."

In scripture not many women are named. Who are these women and why are their names recorded? What was their place in the life of Jesus? Were they disciples, too? Come join us as Pastor Karen leads the conversation for the next two weeks (April 19 and 26) at 9:30.
