Who We Are
We are a small, but diverse congregation in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh and are a part of the worldwide Anglican communion. At The Church of the Advent, although there is considerable variety among our people, we are united by our faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. We acknowledge God’s love for all people and seek to abide the words of our baptismal covenant “to respect the dignity of every human being.”

We are presently a small parish, but there is no shortage of hospitality. We love seeing new faces and welcome you to come join us for worship, fellowship, study and service. We would be pleased to answer any questions you may have by phone or email – or personally any Sunday morning! Worship
We worship together on Sunday mornings at 9:30. Our service is informal and we invite people to come as they are. Some folks do still put on their “Sunday best,” which is perfectly fine, but not necessary. God is more interested in people than clothing - so are we. Our worship follows the Book of Common Prayer, which is available online for those who are interested. Our service is best described as traditional, but we do try some new things now and then. We have communion (the Lord’s Supper, Eucharist) every Sunday and all baptized Christians are welcome to share with us. Services are broadcast each Sunday live at 9:30am on Facebook from the church. Masks are now optional for those attending at the church. As always, we ask that everyone respect one another's boundaries. Communion is provided in prepackaged, sanitized containers to minimize any chance of spreading the virus. It you have any questions about our worship, please direct them to our priest by phone or email. During the service, any of our people would be happy to assist you in any way they can.

Most of us have to find our own seats at church, but at the Church of the Advent there are 2 special seats. The first is the Bishop's Throne, where Bishop Ketlen will sit at her annual visit in November. The other is for our church dog Blossom, although she can really sit anywhere she wants.
