Saints of Today: Martha's Invitation ๐ŸŒน

Martha welcomed Jesus into her home. Yes, she was anxiousโ€”but without her invitation, there is no encounter. Her hospitality created the space where friendship with Jesus grew. All three became saints.

We live differently now. We choose screens over people, entertainment over friendship. Loneliness masquerading as comfort.

Friendship demands everything that makes us human and divine. When life hurts, a friend shares the pain. When it's overwhelming, they help carry the load.

You don't need a crowd or a perfect house. Start small. Invite one person. Cook a meal. Ask good questions. Keep showing up.

Jesus still comes to those who make room.

๐Ÿšจ REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN โ€” AND YES, YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO SIGN UP. ๐Ÿšจ

St. John the Evangelist Family,
Every year, registration opens. And every year, some families wait โ€” or skip entirely โ€” because they think, "My child isn't making a sacrament this year, so we don't have to sign up."

This is a misconception that could delay your child's sacraments. Please read carefully.

๐Ÿ“‹ Here's the truth:
Faith formation is not a one-time event tied to a sacrament. Catechesis is not a one-time event but a continuous effort that begins in childhood and extends throughout life. The goal is to raise children who know, love, and live the faith โ€” not just children who show up the year they make First Communion or Confirmation.
Every school-aged child must be registered and attending EVERY year โ€” sacrament year or not โ€” until they receive Confirmation.
This is not optional. This is not suggested. This is required.

๐Ÿ  What is Whole Family Catechism?
Our parish uses a Whole Family Catechism model โ€” because faith is not a drop-off program, it's a way of life. The Church teaches that parents are the first educators of their children in the faith (CCC 2223). These sessions exist to support YOU, the parent, in that sacred mission.
Here's the good news: it's only once a month. Families gather in the parish hall for a class led by Father. That's it. One Sunday morning a month to invest in your child's eternal soul.
โš ๏ธ Attendance at Whole Family Catechism for a minimum of 2 years is REQUIRED before a child can register for sacrament preparation. If your child skips years, they cannot move forward. Don't let a delay today become a setback for Confirmation tomorrow.

โœ๏ธ What about Confirmation?
Confirmation is now celebrated in 8th Grade. All students entering 8th grade or above who have not yet received the Sacrament are asked to register for Confirmation preparation now.

๐Ÿ“š Key Details for 2026โ€“2027:

Friends, the saints were not formed in a day โ€” and neither are our children. We want young people to see how faith โ€” belief, worship, moral living, and prayer โ€” intertwines and shapes their daily experiences. It's about showing them how faith isn't just a Sunday activity, but a living, breathing reality that informs their choices and actions at any stage of life.

Register today. Don't wait. Your child's faith formation is worth every Sunday. โœ๏ธ

๐Ÿ†โœ๏ธ FAMILY OF THE MONTH โ€” Josh & Brandy St. Germain โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ†

Knights of Columbus Council 1425 is proud and blessed to recognize Josh and Brandy St. Germain as our Family of the Month! ๐ŸŽ‰

If you've spent any time at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, you already know this family. Josh and Brandy are the ones who show up โ€” quietly, faithfully, and without hesitation โ€” wherever there is a need. Whether it's serving at a parish event, lending a helping hand behind the scenes, or simply being a steady and loving presence in our community, they embody what it means to live the faith, not just profess it.

Their Christ-like kindness is a gift to every person they encounter, and their selfless service is a shining example of what the Knights of Columbus stands for: Charity. Unity. Fraternity. Patriotism.

To Josh and Brandy โ€” thank you. Thank you for your generous hearts, your tireless service, and for reminding all of us what it looks like to love our neighbors as ourselves. Our parish and our council are richer because of you. ๐Ÿ™

"Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." โ€” Matthew 25:40
Congratulations, Josh and Brandy! May God continue to bless your family abundantly for all the good you pour into ours. ๐Ÿ’™

Registration is NOW OPEN for the upcoming 2026/2027 catechism year.

ALL FAMILIES , with or without children, that plan to attend the Monthly Whole Family Catechism classes, that are led by Father, MUST REGISTER!

Forms and information can be found in the vestibule of the church or on the church parish website. https://www.stjohnjeanerette.org/catechism-registration-guidelines

Please make sure to read thru it all carefully because changes have been made to the requirements. Our parish uses a Whole Family Catechism model. Instead of weekly dropโ€‘off classes, all families attend once a month during the catechism year to learn, pray, and grow in faith as a community.

For families with school-aged children, this is the foundation of our catechism formation program; therefore, every family must register for, and attend, Whole Family Catechism each year, starting in 1st grade. Participation in these monthly sessions is required, for a minimum of 2 years, before registering for sacrament
preparation classes and is necessary for children to receive the sacraments.

Registration closes on Wednesday, July 15th, 2026.
