There was something magical about watching a storm roll in from the front porch or the open garage door.

You'd see the sky turn dark, feel the wind pick up, and smell the rain before it even started falling. Then you'd just sit there and watch nature put on a show.

Sometimes half the neighborhood kids would end up on somebody's porch, all watching together. No phones. No distractions. Just pure wonder.

Mom and Dad didn't panic or rush you inside at the first crack of thunder. They trusted you to know when lightning was getting too close. They'd sit right there with you, drinking iced tea and watching the trees bend.

It felt like front row seats to something powerful and beautiful, and nobody thought twice about it.

Did you grow up watching storms from the porch?
