Jay United Methodist Church

Jay United Methodist Church Sunday School: 10:00 a.m. Morning Worship: 11:00 a.m. We have a rich heritage of Wesleyan Theology and revival. These three persons are co-equal and
co-eternal.

About Us

Here at Jay Methodist Church we desire to be a congregation that welcomes all
people while honoring the Lordship of Christ and the authority of Scripture. We believe with Wesley that, when the kingdom of God is set up in the heart, it spreads “from heart to heart, from house to house, from town to town, from one kingdom to another” (The General Spread of the Gospel). Through the followi

ng mission, vision, and priorities, we seek to be part of this kingdom increase. Our Mission
To advance the Kingdom of God, one heart at a time

Our Vision
To raise up Christ followers who are living supernaturally in the renewing power of the Holy Spirit; living transformationally in their homes, church, and community; and
living expectantly in anticipation of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Priorities

Kingdom Culture
We are committed to leading and living out of the core values of the Kingdom. (Romans 14:17-18)

Intentional Discipleship
We are committed to the centrality of scripture, prayer, sacrament, and transformational relationships. (Acts 2:42)

Spiritual Compass
We are committed to the doctrine, experience, practice and discipline of historic Christian faith (Jude 1:3)

Invitational Lifestyle
We are committed to engaging every member in connecting others with Christ and His Church (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-18)

What We Believe

The Trinity
We believe in one God who exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. Salvation by Grace through Faith
We believe that salvation is a gift from God and is not earned through our own efforts. It is received through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Bible as God's Word
We believe that the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God, containing all that is necessary for faith and practice. The Incarnation
We believe in the divinity and humanity of Jesus Christ, who became incarnate to reconcile humanity to God. The Atonement
We believe that Jesus' death on the cross atoned for the sins of humanity, making forgiveness and reconciliation with God possible. Resurrection and Eternal Life
We believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and in the promise of eternal life for all who trust in Him. The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells all true believers, empowering them for holy living and imparting spiritual gifts for the edification of the Church and the advancement of God's kingdom. Marriage, S*x & Gender
We believe that the faithful witness of Scripture and Church history affirm the beauty of God’s design for s*x and marriage. We believe that Jesus reinforced the design in His teaching. We therefore celebrate celibacy in singleness and faithfulness in marriage between a man and a woman as our Lord’s design for his people. We further believe that gender is God-ordained and God-blessed, and that in creating the human race “male and female,” he declared it to be “very good.”

Israel and the Jewish people
We believe that Jews and Christians share faith in one living God. We believe that God has not abandoned His covenant with the Jews. While Jews await the promised Messiah, we believe that this promise is fulfilled in Jesus Christ. We therefore declare with the apostle Paul, “my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.” (Romans 10:1). We affirm that the Holy Land is sacred to Jews and Christians. We respect the legitimacy of the state of Israel. We cry with King David, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you.” (Psalm 122:6)

The Great Commission
We are commissioned to share the message of Christ's love and salvation with the world, making disciples of all nations. Second Coming of Christ
We believe in the glorious Second Coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Second Coming of Christ will be a visible, bodily return. He will come with power and great glory, as described in Matthew 24:30.

In the natural, much of the joy of growing fresh fruit is in the sharing. The same is true of the fruit of the Spirit. Understanding this positions us to be a redemptive presence in our spheres of influence. We'll explore this together Sunday morning at 11:00. Join us! You're always welcome!

The fruit of the Spirit is the heart of Jesus formed in the heart of the believer. This makes sense If sin begins in the heart, deliverance from it must begin there, too.
