Jane Edwards, 73, of Jasper passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 in Jasper. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Jasper with a reception to follow in the Family Life Center.

A resident of Jasper, she was born on May 23, 1951 in Baytown, Texas to E.A. & Frances McManus. A former English teacher at Jasper High School, she earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Stephen F. Austin State University and her Doctorate from Baylor University. She worked as a school counselor in Lufkin and Tyler before retiring and returning to Jasper. She was an active member of the Women’s Civic Club, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Retired Teacher’s Association. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Jasper. She enjoyed reading biographies and historical nonfiction, mostly about the Civil War. She even wrote magazine articles about historical people and events in Texas. She loved spending time with her grandchildren singing songs, playing games and telling stories.

She is survived by her mother Frances Williams; daughters Rachel Bryan & husband Kirk and Mila Redwine & husband William; grandchildren Payton Rawls, Draven Rawls, Chance Bryan, Michael Bryan, Olivia Redwine, Liam Redwine, and Leeann Redwine; brother Billy McManus & wife Denise; as well as aunts Edna Akers and Hazel Gentry.
