In a journal entry dated October 6, 1774, Rev. John Wesley recorded the following advice on how members of the Methodist Societies should conduct themselves during elections:
• ’To vote, without fee or reward, for the person they judged most worthy.
• To speak no evil of the person they voted against.
• And to take care their spirits were not sharpened against those that voted on the other side.’
This guidance remains just as relevant for United Methodists today. Our nation’s diversity of strongly held beliefs is a strength, and how we choose to respect and love one another is a profound opportunity for followers of Jesus to reflect our shared character — love.

Don’t forget to stop what you are doing and pray for our country at 6:00pm this evening. Prayer today, can change tomorrow. Prayer on Wednesday, can’t change what happens tomorrow.

"If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

School starts today!

Copied from Adam C Brooks

School is almost starting and I want to ask you a favor… Sit with your child for 5 minutes and explain that there’s never a reason to make fun of someone for their height, their weight, their skin tone, their home life or the things they enjoy.

Explain there’s nothing wrong with wearing the same shoes every day.
Explain to them that a used backpack carries the same dreams as a new one.
Teach them not to exclude anyone for "being different"
Explain to them that teasing hurts and that school is for going to LEARN, NOT to compete or spread negativity.

Remind them some kids don’t go home to loving families so it’s important to be kind. It all starts at home!

Pray for all students who are starting off with the new school year!

How true! You are invited to worship with us on Sunday morning at 9 a.m..

Copied from Rev. Bishop’s FB page.

Statitics show that people attend church less regularly than they once did. I beleive this to be true.

When I begn in ministry, you needed a pool of about 250 people to average 200. I would argue that you now need 500. People haven't "quit" church, they attend less frequently.

I run into people all the time who "apologize" for not being in church more regularly. They normally cite "time" and "schedule." The reality is that church attendance has nothing to do with “a lack of time” or “a busy schedule.”

Time has been the same since creation: 24 hours each day. We all have the exact same amount of time. And no one attends church because they don’t have anything else to do. We all have other stuff we could do.

What we do with our time is about priorities. We all do more of what is most important to us and we all do less of what is not as important to us.

Plain and simple.

If people don’t regularly attend church, it is because other things have become more important to them.

My point is that we need to get honest.

How we raise our children is too important not to be honest...

Faith is too important not to be honest...

And in that moment of honesty, I hope people will take a moment to consider thier priorities and give God his proper place!
