Food for thought: Wishing the Jewish people an easy fast on Tisha B’Av while also wishing for Israel’s enemies to succeed in destroying the country is deeply contradictory.

Tisha B’Av commemorates centuries of statelessness, expulsions, persecution, and tragedies that culminated in the Holocaust. The day itself testifies to why Jewish self-determination and a secure homeland are not abstract political preferences, but matters of survival.

And let us remember what God said in Jeremiah 31:35-37: As long as the fixed order of the sun, moon, and stars remains, Israel will not cease to be a nation before Him. That is the hope we proclaim on this solemn day—with compassion to those who mourn and with conviction to those who seek Israel’s destruction.

Recently, our Chosen People Ministries staff in Israel has had the joyous opportunity to disciple and walk alongside a number of new believers, as well as people who desire to dive deeper into their walk with the Lord. The questions, the conversations, and the time spent in God’s Word and prayer are priceless.
