Greetings!
We had a wonderful meeting at Jackson's Mill this year! I will post more information concerning that very soon. In the meantime, let me share some of the many ministries that the local United Methodist Men have been doing. These were recognized during our annual meeting by a certificate signed by Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball.
The Lewisburg United Methodist Men, Lewisburg United Methodist Church have provided repairs to the church structure which has resulted in saving many dollars in costly repairs and maintenance.
The United Methodist Men of the Little Kanawha District distributed 43,000 pounds of potatoes to food pantries and churches within the district.
The Men of St John's United Methodist Church, Spencer ministries to the Youth include Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, to the hungry with food to the food pantries and the annual Potato Drop
The United Methodist Men of Lubeck United Methodist Church performs ministry to the ladies of the church with a Sweetheart Dinner and Mother and Daughter Dinner, ministry to the Youth by sponsoring a Boy Scout Troop and ministries to the congregation by offering handyman help with home repairs and cleanups.
The United Methodist Men of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church, Parkersburg raise funds for programs by making peanut brittle, the best in seven states, and each year. The peanut brittle is packaged and sold with scriptural quotes on the packages. They are active in Youth ministries through scouting and have a very active Prayer Ministry.
The United Methodist Men of the Mon Valley District have sponsored the Arnold Eddy Golf Outing now for several years. This is the major fund raiser for the Circuit Rider at Jackson's Mill.
The United Methodist Men of Westover United Methodist Church, Westover, sponsors various ministries to men with the Wild at Heart program and Feeding the Hungry with their food programs including gleaning potatoes for food pantries.
The United Methodist Men of Spruce Street United Methodist Church, Morgantown, have been very active in ministries to the congregation by raising funds to sponsor a Family Life Coordinator. They are also involved in feeding the hungry by donating to the local food pantries.
The United Methodist Men of First United Methodist Church, South Charleston have been active in providing leadership to the community by sponsoring dinners with guest speakers (Meet the Candidates) that were actively seeking office; involved in youth ministries by sponsoring a Boy Scout Troop; feeding ministries with Heart and Hand; as well as maintaining the grounds at the church and doing those necessary repairs to the building.
The Men of St John's United Methodist Church, Scott Depot ministry to the youth through sponsoring a Boy Scout Troop; ministry to the hungry through fund collection for the Christian Community Cupboard; ministry to the community with financial contributions to Faith Community Church; and outreach ministry by hosting a free car wash.
The United Methodist Men of Milton United Methodist Church, Milton work is through the Mission and Outreach Committee. The men built a ramp for a family who needed access to the house and lawn cleanup for the family. A future project will be the distribution of Strength for Service to first responders.
The United Methodist Men of Humphreys Memorial, Sissonville, sponsor a Boy Scout Troop and maintain the church building, grounds and parking lot.
The United Methodist Temple, Beckley have support the ministry programs with a fruit sale annually, sponsor Campus Crusade for Christ at the U.S. Naval Academy, and sponsor "Service and Witness Ministry (SAW), a handyman ministry to help those that need assistance with small to moderate size jobs around their homes.
Those recognized were the ones that responded with details when I sent out a request for the ministries the United Methodist Men were doing at the local church. I am certain that there are many more! Please forward your ministries to me via this web site for recognition.
