Congregation Beth Sholom-Chevra Shas CBS-CS is a warm and welcoming congregation in Syracuse, NY. CBS-CS is a diverse and dynamic Conservative Jewish congregation.

CBS-CS is an egalitarian Conservative congregation dedicated to the active participation of its members in all areas of synagogue life. Our warm, engaging, knowledgeable rabbi and energetic staff work with a large number of volunteer corps to develop innovative programs - religious, spiritual, educational, pastoral and social - that appeal to the varied interests of our membership. We strive to promote relationships with the larger Syracuse Jewish community, as well as with other faith communities. Yom HaZikaron and Yom Ha’Atzma’ut, Israel’s Memorial and Independence Days, are observed back-to-back, creating one of the most striking rhythms in Israeli life. In the span of twenty-four hours, the country moves from collective mourning to celebration, a transition so intense that it can feel almost disorienting. Both days are marked by distinct rituals and ceremonies, religious and secular alike. This class, led by Rabbi Steinitz, will explore how they are observed and what this transition reveals about Israeli culture and society.

Celebrate the end of Passover with us this Friday, April 10 with Mimouna Shabbat! Mimouna is a North African tradition celebrated the day after Passover. Jews and Muslims would get together, enjoy a meal, and make special pancakes known as Mufletta.

We'll be celebrating a Moroccan-inspired Kabbalat Shabbat followed by a delicious meal of traditional and non-traditional foods and many sweets!

Here's the Schedule:

5:45 - 6:00 pm - Snack & Chat
Enjoy some snacks and conversation with your CBS-CS friends
6:00 pm - Kabbalat Shabbat Service
6:45 pm - Dinner
