It’s been a busy week for FBCJamestown. Our churches within the FBCJ community have completed lots of summer activities including the conclusion of our annual Farmers Mqrket. Our kitchen has prepared lots of meals in the past week. From hotdogs and hamburgers, steak, potatoes and gravy, afternoon sandwiches, to 2 covered dish meals…Our fellowship hall has been busy! Busy with laughter, with tears of hope, love, joy and sorrow. We’ve had time in quiet moments of praise and prayer. And lots of time sharing love and support for one another.

Thursday at noon is this month’s XYZ luncheon! The menu involves NO cooking. Everyone is welcome! Bring a sandwich and chips/salad of your choice. It’s a great day to pickup a sandwich from your favorite delicatessen. Publix deli in town is very good and the fried chicken at Food Lion is hard to beat! Or, just make a homemade pimento and cheese sandwich. Yes, Ingram’s Farms has delicious homemade pimento cheese, regular and hot!
Come join the FBCJ seniors this Thursday at noon for our monthly XYZ’s luncheon!!! A casual afternoon of food, fun and lots and lots of laughs!!
(Please note, This Thursday, FBCJ will be having a short business meeting right after lunch and before fellowship )

Tom Venable, a member of First Baptist Church of Jamestown went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2026. The family will receive friends on Tuesday July 21 from 5pm-7pm at George Brothers Funeral Service in Greensboro NC.
The service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Jamestown NC.

Below is his obituary.

Thomas “Tommy” Marion Venable, 90, of Greensboro, went home to be with his Savior on July 17, 2026. Born on November 12, 1935, in Guilford County, NC, he was the son of the late Haldor C. and Margaret Kimrey Venable. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Morrison Venable, and his brother, James Venable.
Tommy was a graduate of Jamestown High School and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Jamestown. He served in the United States Army and worked at Fredrickson Motor Express for more than 30 years. Tommy had a gift for working with his hands —whether it was fixing a tractor, tinkering in the shop, or simply figuring out how to make something run again. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Lisa Dillon (Mark) and Nancy Shaver (Richard); four grandchildren, Kimrey Dillon, Erin Lanier (Caleb), Natalie Shaver (fiancé, Brent Weiss), and Ashley Burgess (Daniel); and three great-grandchildren, Hazel Lanier, Ember Lanier, and Carter Burgess. Sharing in the remembrance are his niece, Sherrie Duke (Alan) and his nephew, Brian Venable, and numerous family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm–7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at George Brothers Funeral Service.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Jamestown. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to:
American Cancer Society, Relay for Life of Triad, Carolina for Girls Duke team that Tommy supported each year.
