Get to Know the Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg
The Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg was founded in 1854 and has faithfully served the surrounding community for 168 years. We are a Biblically centered church dedicated to the Christian education of all of our members and are committed to the service to God through our service to others in the community. A sampling of these includes:
The Board of
Deacons. The food pantry they sponsor supplies food and nourishment to more than 160 families in the greater Jamesburg area. They work throughout the month to gather donations from food warehouses and various organization so that on the third Saturday of each month they are well stocked and ready to serve the needy. They also sponsor a toy program that supplies gifts to children of these families at Christmas time as well as Back-to-School supplies in September. This group is busy throughout the year performing many of the duties necessary to keeping the church operational. Help with cleaning or maintaining the lawn and exterior grounds are examples of the vital work they perform. Additionally, this group hosts a number of special dinners throughout the year including a corned beef dinner in March, a ham dinner in May and a barbecued chicken dinner in August. Lunch with the Easter Bunny and lunch with Santa are also popular with the community. This group of volunteers hosts the annual chili contest in January and a "Souper Bowl" luncheon in February. Throughout the year they host additional events such as "Spud Night", a popular baked potato with toppings dinner, a church fair and/or picnic and the annual car show. The church serves as host to a number of local organizations such as Boy Scout Troop 54, famed for producing many Eagle Scouts, Girl Scout troops and Cub Scout troops. These groups give back to the church by volunteering at various events or assisting in the outdoor maintenance. The Central Jersey N-Trak model railroad club meets regularly at the church, often organizing public displays of their large, functioning layouts. Other groups such as the Jamesburg Historical Association and the Jamesburg High School Alumni Association hold meetings in our building. The Rev. Dr. Gary W. Filson has retired as pastor after faithfully serving the church and our community for over 36 years. He and his wife Ella were both pillars of the church and community and we wish them all the best in their retirement. After extensive research, interviews, and meetings the Interim Search Committee has chosen the Rev. Kathy Genus to lead us forward in our service and worship to the Lord while we continue the search for our next full time pastor. May God bless her ministry and continue to keep His hands upon us as we go forth proclaiming the Word of the Lord 🙏
