Pentecost Sunday | A day we celebrate the birth and global effectiveness of the church. Acts 2 is clear that on that day, tongues like fire 🔥 sat upon each of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak in other tongues or languages. These weren’t mysterious or heavenly, but divine abilities to speak the language or tongues of other nations.

God spoke to our church months ago that he was filling some of us afresh with “new tongues”. Not mysterious sounds, but the ability to speak the languages of people around us who are “different” and desperate. See, not everyone speaks Christianese! Some speak the language (tongue) of the broken hearted, the dialect is the disenfranchised, the slang is the sorrowful, the phrasing of the prostitute…all of which are tongues. What tongue has God given YOU to speak? Who’s HE sending you to?

But maybe simply speaking the language (tongue) isn’t enough…maybe we are being stretched to also feel and empathize with those who we’ve been called to reach for the sake of the Kingdom. Rejoicing and mourning with…
