Nolan Ridge Church The church in the middle of the woods. Founded in the early 1900s by Ellis Padgett, the church has been a long-standing part of the Long Branch community.

Located in Jennings State Forest, Nolan Ridge Church, with a rich history in the Long Branch area, welcomes the community to worship and fellowship! Deep in Jennings State Forest, Nolan Ridge Church, often referred to as the "little church in the woods," welcomes anyone seeking worship and fellowship. It was once called the “Little Red Church” and brought together families who worked in timber, tu

rpentine, farming, and even moonshine. Even as the area has changed, the church stands as a symbol of faith and resilience. Still running on a generator, this small chapel continues to unite people and honor the legacy of those who built it over a hundred years ago.

Happy Labor Day from all of us at Nolan Ridge Church! Today, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of everyone who helps keep our families, businesses, communities, and country moving forward.

As we enjoy this day of rest, let’s remember what Jesus said: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me... For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” — Matthew 11:28-30

Life can make us feel tired, overwhelmed, and worn out. But Jesus reminds us we don’t have to carry our burdens by ourselves. When we come to Him, we find the rest our souls really need.

Here’s to a great start to the new school year! As the school year begins, we’re keeping all teachers, students, parents, and school staff in our thoughts and prayers. We hope this year brings wisdom, growth, safety, and wonderful memories.
