Sermon recap | May 24, 2026
“God Poured Out”
Numbers 11:24-30
Pentecost Sunday

On Pentecost, the church celebrates the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2 — a fulfillment of Moses’ prayer from long ago that God’s Spirit would rest on all people, not just a chosen few. The Spirit continues to move beyond boundaries, empowering ordinary people to speak truth, embody compassion, and participate in God’s work of abundant life for the world.

On this Memorial Day, we honor those who gave their lives in service, remember their sacrifice, and offer grateful hearts in prayer for our nation.

Our Church Book Club wrapped up the spring season with two enjoyable meetings last Thursday and Friday! Twenty-eight readers joined together to talk about Woman of God by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro. Depending on the table, ratings averaged anywhere from a 3 to a 4, sparking plenty of thoughtful discussion and differing perspectives. 📚✨

We gathered at Rosalia’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria to tie in with the book’s Rome and Vatican City setting — and it was the perfect place for great conversation, delicious food, and fellowship. 🍝

Now we’ll pause for the summer months of June and July before returning in August with our next selection, Theo of Golden. We can’t wait to see everyone again then!

This Sunday at Longleaf, we were reminded what it means to clothe ourselves with humility (1 Peter 5:5b–11).

Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself—it’s trusting God, inviting others in, and letting go of the need to carry everything alone. We were reminded to cast our anxieties on Him, stand firm in faith, and rest in God’s promises—even in the middle of life’s hard seasons.

Sunday Sermon Recap - "Sharing Hope With Gentleness"

This week in our Living Hope, Living Large series, we unpacked 1 Peter 3 with Pastor Kevin — a powerful reminder to always be ready to share the hope we have in Christ, but to do it with gentleness and respect.
In a world obsessed with winning arguments, status, and self-promotion, Peter calls us to a better way: do good, live differently, and respond to questions about our faith with humility and kindness — just as Jesus did. Even when it’s hard or we face pushback, we’re invited to follow in His footsteps.
A great encouragement to live boldly yet gently for the Gospel! 🙏
