It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Bishop Joe Canty, Jr. of Irvington, New Jersey.

On Monday, April 22, 2024, Bishop Joe Canty Jr. "J C", husband of Minister Louise Gadsden Canty heard his Master's call at his residence in Irvington, NJ.

Born on Wednesday, May 26, 1948, in Manning, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Deacon Joe Canty Sr. and the late Deaconess Thomasine Di**le Canty.

Services celebrating his life will take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 12:00 noon from the Weldon Auditorium, 7 Maple St., Manning, where Bishop Michael White of Albany, Georgia will preside. The Presiding Prelate of The House of God Saints in Christ Bishop Lorenzo Moore of Jacksonville, Florida will bring words of consolation. The service of committal will follow in the Canty family plot located in the State Cemetery of the Jordan Community in Manning.

Public viewing will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, during the hours of 4:00pm - 6:00pm from the Fleming & DeLaine Chapel, 222 West Boyce St., Manning.

The family is receiving relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at the residence of his nephew and niece, the Rev. Dr. Curtis and Jacqueline "Jacky" Cantey, 1262 Amberside Dr., Manning.
