What a season. I’m sorry yesterday did not go the way we all wanted, but everyone attached to Nashville Soccer Club] has every reason to be proud. You played well, fought hard, and there is no team like you.
The end of any season is a milestone, but the end of this one is particularly significant for me.
In the fall of 2017 I had the honor of becoming the Chaplain for Nashville SC. This was prior to their first USL season and the beginning of a journey I not only loved, but which changed my life. Over the last 5 years I’ve had the blessing of walking through victories, losses, contract extensions, terminations, career ending injuries, recoveries, marriages, births, deaths, and everything in between. It has been a deep honor to walk alongside the coaches, players, staff members, trainers and everyone else. The truth is, I learned more about what it means to be a pastor in and around the NSC locker room than I did anywhere else and for this I will be eternally grateful. Serving this club has been one of the great honors of my life.… but it is time for me to step away.
As most of you know, I recently relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. My commitment was to finish out this season with Nashville SC and that’s what I’ve done. Now it’s time to pass the baton (we’ll announce to whom soon). I will remain in the mix with , but we are still figuring out what that’s going to look like.
So, thank you Nashville Soccer Club]. What an honor. What a gift. What a club. I will always cherish my journey with the blue and gold and I will be cheering you on from the sunshine state. To my friends and brothers at the club…thank you. You’ve given me more than I could have ever given you. What a ride. Godspeed.
“The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”
