Have you had a moment when "Everything Changed"?

There are moments in history when everything changes in an instant. A nation is attacked. A child is born. A cure is discovered. A person comes to faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior.

In Acts 2:1-21, we witness one of the greatest turning points in human history; the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

The disciples changed from a group of frightened believers into bold, courageous proclaimers for Jesus. As the Holy Spirit moves in us, everything changes.

Are you looking for meaning, identity, purpose, peace, and/or truth?

We live in a confused culture. People are searching everywhere for meaning, identity, purpose, peace, and truth. Some search through success, and others search through other things. Our world is filled with information, but is starving for truth.

Our culture isn't much different from the city of Athens (Acts 17:16-31). Athens had brilliant intelligence, but was spiritually empty. Acts 17 encourages Christians to respond with truth, compassion, courage, and hope in Jesus.

Where do you turn when life gets uncertain?

There are moments in life when everything feels uncertain. A financial burden that keeps you awake at night. In moments like these, anxiety creeps in quietly, but powerfully.

That's the setting of John 14:1-14. Jesus has told the disciples he is going away. Their world is about to be shaken. Into that fear, Jesus speaks,

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me."

We overcome anxiety by trusting Jesus in our circumstances.

Sharing with the Recovery Community this book by Pastor Pat and Kristen. Get a better understanding of the history of recovery groups and how the Bible offers the keys. This is a personal study book for anyone who struggles with hurts, habits, and hangups. I just finished this book. Great for working with sponsees and those new to recovery programs. Great for journaling and step work too.

What does it mean for a church to be "alive"?

There is something powerful about a church that is truly alive. Not just busy. Not just full, but alive with the presence of God. In Acts 2:42-46, we see the birth of the New Testament Church after the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost.

Thousands came to faith in Jesus. The followers devoted themselves to God, each other, and in service to the world.

If every believer did this, Church wouldn't just be a place to go, but a powerful movement of God.

Have you ever been saved from serious danger?

There are moments in life that change how you see everything. A person rescued from danger never forgets the one who saved them. Why? Because when you understand what you've been saved from and what it cost, it changes how you live.

That is what the Apostle Peter is addressing in 1 Peter 1:17-25. He is speaking to believers who are scattered, facing hardship, and trying to live faithfully in a difficult world. Peter reminds them, and us, that we have been purchased by the blood of Jesus. Because of that, our lives can reflect it.

What influences your decision to obey?

There are moments in life when obedience costs something. It may cost comfort, reputation, or relationships. The real question isn't, "What will this cost me, but who will I obey?"

In Acts 5:29-42, the Apostles of Jesus stand before the religious authorities threatened, commanded to stop preaching the name of Jesus. They say, "We must obey God rather than men."

As followers of Jesus, that is our calling, too.

What does Jesus' Resurrection mean for you?

Jesus said (John 10:18), "No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again." So now he does. Jesus' resurrection is not just for his sake, but for ours as well.

Because of Jesus, eternal death no longer has the final word for those who love and trust in him!

Have you ever met someone and it changed your life?

There are moments in life when everything changes because someone important arrives. A family waits at the airport for a soldier to come home, a child stands at the window waiting for a parent to return.

Matthew 21:1-11 records such a moment. Jesus enters Jerusalem, and his arrival is not random. This is the King coming to his people. Matthew wants us to see Jesus as the promised, humbled, and saving King.

How do you see Jesus and respond to him?
