Pentecost Sunday reminded us that we are empowered to witness.
Pastor Joel shared how Pentecost fulfilled what happened at Sinai—where God once wrote His law on tablets of stone, He now writes it on our hearts by His Spirit. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now dwells in believers—on the bad days, in the hospital rooms, in the hard meetings. Resurrection power is not something we chase; it’s Someone who lives in us.
He reminded us that:
The church was never meant to survive on hustle, striving, charisma, or production value. The mission of Jesus requires the life of Jesus, carried by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus told the disciples to wait until they were “clothed with power from on high.” A supernatural calling can’t be carried on natural strength. God clothes us with what we don’t possess naturally.
We are a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). The presence of God is not meant to ride on “better carts” (systems, programs, machinery), but on the priesthood—on ordinary believers who carry His presence.
The Holy Spirit empowers witnesses, not celebrities. He doesn’t come to make us impressive, but to make Jesus visible through our lives.
Pastor Joel also challenged the lie that says, “I’m not enough to be used by God.” The same pride that says “look at me” is the pride that says “God can’t use me.” Our identity is not rooted in our performance or our past, but in Christ Himself.
We ended by asking Holy Spirit to:
Awaken us from apathy and striving
Fill weary hearts again
Bend and shape us, like in the Welsh revival cry: “Lord, bend us, break us—we are Yours.”
As you go into this week, remember Pastor Joel’s declaration over us:
You are not powerless. You are not abandoned. You are not carrying this mission alone. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you—and where you place your feet, the kingdom of God steps into the room.
